Let's 'Ketchup'

Well, let's bring you all up to date here. We welcomed ourselves back into the Hoosier state on November 1st and have settled back in the Fillmore area. It's been a LONG time since I've been back in this area and seen all the happy smiling faces that I knew growing up. We are located on 240 and loving the fact that we are back on the farm. The kids love all the room that comes with living in the country and of course, Jonathan can keep tabs on the implements coming in and out of the driveway. The kids are welcome in the barns here on this farm. Jonathan didn't waste any time either as he has already been back to help Kenny with the feeding. He couldn't wait to hold a baby pig.

Madison has gotten her wish and acquired a cat. It is an orange tabby cat and has been named 'Spice'. The idea originated as we moved on Halloween, her being orange, and the color of a pumpkin. The cat (I still don't know if it is a boy or a girl...I should probably check on that) is very loveable and well behaved. Kenny even pets it every once in a while!!! And for those of you who know Kenny that is a HUGE step.

November 2nd....I went to register the kids for school at Fillmore Elementary. That was an anxious and stressful morning. I can't even begin to explain the feelings that were brewing as I took the steps through the front doors of the school. I, myself, went to Fillmore Elementary. While the school has been completely remodeled it was still surreal. The kids settled in really well and quick. The principal took them on a walk of the school while I filled out all the paperwork. I was able to meet Madison's teacher in the office and when asked, Madison didn't hesitate in asking if she could go on to class. She was such a big, brave girl. I was so proud of her. Jonathan then got a little pouty as he wanted to know when he could go to class. I knew his teacher and they were making their way back to the classroom from a bathroom break and stopped to take him on down. That was when mom lost it! Yes I teared up. My kids were growing up...right in front of me...and it was all out of my control. I was filled with immense pride and joy for them though. I asked for a tour of the school myself and was very impressed with what they have done. I do have to say that I was a bit nervous to learn that some teachers were still teaching that were teaching when I was in elementary school.

I'm still trying to locate a girl scout troop for Madison to transfer into. I'm very disgrunted at the fact that I am going to have to travel to Cloverdale. No troops in the South Putnam district and the two in Greencastle aren't taking any more girls. That is very dissappointing.

The kids are making friends and settling in very well. Madison has gotten her first grade report and has A's and B's again. She is being challenged a lot more here at Fillmore; I'm happy to see a challenge for her, however, I fear that she will get down on herself. I do hope I am proved wrong.

Slowly getting boxes emptied here in the house. Now to just get things hung on the walls. Rebekah and I are finding our routine during the day and getting along well. It's been a busy month though as we all have had a touch of sickness. Madison is the only one who hasn't been layed up with anything serious.

Kenny was able to do some deer hunting and got himself an 8 point buck. It was nice to put some more meat in the freezer. Hoping to get a doe before the end of season and we will be stocked to the brim with deer and beef. Grocery trips will be more easy now.

Rebekah is now 3 months old and finds more enjoyment with laying on the floor. We are trying so hard to roll over...just...not...quite...there...yet! But SO close!

I think that is about all going on for now. There has been a whirlwind of activities for us this year, but we have found a humble place in our lives with no regrets from the road that we had been led out on and back on.

I would like to take a moment and send out a special thank you to every one who helped us in so many ways. From meals to shopping for us for appliances to prayers and helping hands. I have found myself under a great load of emotions seeing all the helping hands and love over the last weeks. I'm a giver and not a receiver so it was very hard for me to push my feelings and needs aside to recieve what was being provided. Thank You will never be enough for me to say.

I enter this holiday season with a prayer request, if I may. My grandpa has been diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma in his stomach and started chemo treatments this week. He outlook seems very positive and will definately help carry him through this. At age 92 you never think of something like this, but more of a reason that I pray that the treatments don't get him down ill. He first treatment was just yesterday so we await to see how his body will react and we continue to support and pray for remission.
