So long 2009--it was a great one!
Hello 2010--bring it on!
We managed to survive the holidays and now are fighting to make it through these bitter cold temperatures. I informed Kenny this evening that it should not be remotely possible for temps to reach this cold. And of course the kids just don't understand why they can't go outside. So I let them go out the other evening and stay out longer (rather than to do chores and get back in). Jonathan tried his hardest to convince me that it wasn't cold outside and he was fine. Madison on the other hand was inside within 10 minutes.
It's hard to believe that they will start back to school in a day. Seems like Christmas break just started. It has been enjoyable though. I know Rebekah will sure miss the kids for sure. Jonathan would always greet her every morning and they would spend their 'alone time' together. Madison and Rebekah had many 'playdates' in Madison's room. I tried to plan a couple of outtings for the kids to look forward to and help break up the vacation. The first week we went to the Indiana State Museum and saw A Christmas Carol there at the IMAX theater. It was comical for sure as they tried grabbing things that seemed to be right in front of them! During one part of the movie when it was snowing, Jonathan even jumped up and tried to catch the snowflakes on his tongue. The second week we ventured out and went ice skating. It had been many many years since I've been; about 11 years actually. It came back to me though. We spent our first trip around the ice hanging onto the wall. Jonathan was the brave one and on our second trip around asked me to take him out to the middle. I repeatedly asked him if he was sure. He had no idea how scared and not ready I was for that venture. It was so much fun though to see the kids. Everyone had such a good time. They are ready to go again!!!
Rebekah is rolling all over the place and has since discovered her feet. Now we are trying to roll while holding onto our feet. She isn't sleeping much during the day now which makes it challenging to get housework done. She gets her sleep in the late evening through morning. I've started giving her cereal of a night in her bottle. Figured I would take it in steps and allow her to get used to it that way then start feeding her with a spoon. She's growing up so fast!!
Things on the farm are going well. Jonathan can't wait to get back to the barn and see all the pigs. I'm ready to get the house in order since the Christmas tree is out and the decorations are put away. I'm tired of looking at boxes and still searching through boxes for things. The lack of organization during the holidays is bad enough. I've got a few projects that I'd like to get started and finished. I computerized all my cooking recipes over the summer so I'm ready to get those printed out and organized. Still trying to decide if I am going to laminate them or just put them in books. I'll have to price that one out. I've pushed myself and started a Relay for Life team. Looking forward to taking part in that rather than sitting on the sidelines.
I'm looking forward to a great year though. Anticipating many opportunities to get involved through the kids school as well as church.
My main computer is in the shop so I can't post any pictures today. I'll follow up soon with a few. Hope this finds you doing well and off to a great start in the new year!
