Not much has really been going on here lately. The kids started swim lessons last Monday and both have completed and passed their classes! Yesterday was their last day. Tuesday, Jonathan was jumping in off the side of the pool and not sure what exactly happened, but he hit his chin on the side. We gauzed it up good and put some ointment on it and then got some of the liquid bandaid that evening. Hated that it burned so bad when we put it on, but he was able to finish swim lessons and the next day it didn't phase him at all when he jumped in the pool. Yesterday, being their last day, they turned everything on in the pool and even the slides, so I was very excited for Jonathan to have the chance to go down the slide. At first I didn't think he was going to, but right at the end of class I caught him walking up the steps with his teacher. He went down the 'swirly one' and went down with his teacher; he was on a high when he hit bottom. It was so much fun!! Madison is now able to jump off the diving board and swim to the ladder all by herself! It just makes me nervous. Jonathan loves jumping in off the side of the pool and doing a cannon ball =)
Last week was also the Lafayette County Fair which is held at the park here behind the house. They have a community building and a horse arena and a show arena. Very different than what Putnam County has. They have exhibits in the community building but each day, what ever livestock show it is, they trailer them in that morning and show and them trailer them home afterwards. No food vendors, no rides, nothing of the sort that PC has. They do have a big livestock program though!
Saturday was the farm outing where all the guys and their families met here at the park and we (the farm) fed them a meal. It was nice to see them all together outside of work and in a more casual enviroment. It was a good evening and I think everyone enjoyed themselves...well...despite the fact that Kenny's boss basically ate everything on the table. I still want to hurl thinking about it!
The weather has been fantastic, but will start warming back up today. It's been in the high 70's and low 80's with a nice breeze. Has sure helped the kids get outside and play. Just as I figured, once they got settled in they started branching out and playing more. Of course, I still have those days where we are 'grounded' to the outside only! Madison sometimes has her moments where she just isn't happy outside...it's too hot! I think that is just the female starting to come out in her.
The kids helped me mow the yard this week and clean up the back of the house. Jonathan gets his mower out and helps and then still gets out his wagon so he can get the grass clippings and feed his cows. I got a corner of the house cleaned out where there was a rock garden basically...I was getting myself pumped to do the south side of the house as well until I ran into a big ugly spider!!! I told Kenny I would do the south side only when I had gloves and had some ortho spray to spray a day or so before I dug into it and to spray again once I finished. There is a cover vine/plant that is so thick in the flower beds, that's where they will hiding for sure. We've been trying to take advantage of these nice evenings and eat supper out ont he back deck. It's a bit small so I was glad to finally get the patio cleaned off so we could move the table and chairs down there and give us some more room.
The kids and I have also enjoyed some picnic lunches at the park and then they head to play while I enjoy a book. We all get rewarded! =)
Yesterday was my 36 week doctor's appt. Everything is still good. Same old thing at each appt...get weighed, hear the heartbeat, get measured and we are done! Nothing new to ever really report. However, yesterday, I measured 37 weeks. Not really jumpy about it though. Regardless, the baby is going to come when it's the right time. Still pretty happy with my weight gain...so far my total weight gain is 8lbs. That sounds great until I put into perspective that I have gained 3lbs in the last 2 weeks!
We headed to Walmart while in Warrensburg and used some of the gift cards to get some baby supplies that we needed. Then headed to Applebee's...Kenny said he was proud of me to finally be eating like a pregnant woman, even though it took me 8 months. I haven't really had an appetite the last week or so; that wasn't the case last night though! I had a salad, split an appetizer with Kenny, my meal (chicken breast) and even finished up Kenny's fries! LOL It was all good though and I didn't have to clean up afterwards...let alone plan the meal! That is one thing about staying at home--seems like there is always a meal to plan for. I get tired of thinking about food, which I think is part of my loss of appetite.
I have found some new recipes to try since I started computerizing all my recipes. That has been one good thing.
Well, today is my cleaning day. Laundry, dusting, vaccuming, scrubbing, mopping...even down to the bathrooms and toilets. UGH! Just glad that I can do it during the week rather than on my weekends! Would like to get most of it done so we can catch some pool time this afternoon. Temps are rising back up and today we will hit 94 degrees. I need to keep this nice tan!! I remember chuckling at Lisa when she would come visit from Florida and would have flip flop tan lines! I can't laugh anymore...I have them too!!!! =)
