We headed to the Missouri State Fair over the weekend. The weather was nice and I was feeling good; the walking was sure not going to hurt me. We did pack our bags and had them in the car for the 'worst case scenario' while gone! The State Fair was in Sedelia, which is east and south of us...only about a 30 minute drive. It started raining on us in route, but ended up being only a drizzle by the time we got there. The fair seemed larger than the PC Fair, but definately not as big as the Indiana State Fair. We weren't impressed at all. They did have animals, but everything else was mainly the midway and food vendors; along with many beer stands and some with bands. The highlight was a Kids Area they had set up..it was a building with different hands on activities. On our way out the kids chose 2 rides and they had no care about the rain! Jonathan did say that he was going to call it not the State Fair, but the Rainy Festival =)
Early Monday morning (12:30am) after getting up and making one of many nightly bathroom runs, I started having leg pain. It felt like the baby was laying right on a nerve. The longer I layed the worse the pain got. I got up and tried to walk it off, thinking that stretching would help. After about an hour, the pain did let up and I also noticed periodic cramps. I got a watch and went back to bed; I started timing the pains which were every 5 minutes over the course of 2 hours. I was up again and had came back to bed just before Kenny's alarm went off and as he awoke I told him what was going on. He was mixed with excitment for sure, but also a little bit of panic I think. He knows that in this stage of labor I can tolerate the pain very well, and with the contractions being 5 minutes apart he insisted that we go to the hospital. So we did and after being monitored for about 3 hours, they determined that I was only in the early stages of labor and with being so tired that it was not allowing me to progress any. So home bound we were....
Yesterday was my 40 week appointment which went well. I have lost weight again, though with still a good blood pressure and a good healthy heartbeat. The baby's heart beat was around 140bpm. Head is down, but not down and locked in the pelvis. Still dilated to 2 as I was when leaving the hospital on Monday. They stripped my membranes again and I will again go back next week (if I haven't delivered before then) and at that time, we will be scheduling an induction. On the way home I got to thinking about the other 2 kids and just then realized a connection----Madison was 6 days late; and Jonathan was 6 days early.
Last night was also Classroom Orientation for the kids at school. They were able to see their classroom, meet their teachers, and take in all their school supplies. The Kindergarten classes had some last minute changes, so Jonathan was a little confused about it. He knew his teacher was suppose to be Mrs. Hayes and that wasn't the case. He walked right on in to Mrs. Russell's room and introduced himself! She was excited about that and asked him for a hug...his response, "mmmm, no, I don't think so." Mrs. Russell seems very nice and despite the last minute change, I think she will be a good teacher for Jonathan. She is very interested in the kids and wanted to know last night all she could and especially any concerns or anything that we might have had about Jonathan starting Kindergarten. She definately took her time with each kid/family that came in and made an extra effort on the welcoming part for everyone. It was amazing to stand back and watch Jonathan take everything in. He walked around the classroom looking at everything and checking everything out. He even made sure he knew the room number before leaving!
Onto Madison's room we went...she was excited as well as she got her choice for her teacher...Miss Stockcamp. She had her during summer school and immediately became fond of her. Miss Stockcamp took to Madison too. Of course, she noticed right away how much Madison looked like Kenny and was blown away by it! LOL Again, she was very attentive and her and Madison had a lot to catch up on since summer school. Madison also, looked around the room and had questions about different things.
The kids were definately excited about school this morning. They were downstairs and bright eyed at 6am!! I was going to let them sleep until 6:30a =) I made it without crying a tear. Though after coming back home and sitting down to eat breakfast and catch the news, I started to notice the quietness in the house. I thought then that I was going to tear up, I felt it coming on...but the excitement that I have for the kids and seeing them excited and proud overwhelmed me. Whew! Made it this year without crying. They have done remarkably well with the whole move and adjusting to the new area and school. I can't help but be so proud of them. We weren't really nervous that they wouldn't take it all well; but seeing it all come about through them has been great. They are like us and like the new adventures. That is something I definately hoped for in them...to not feel tied down to where they weren't able to be set free and enjoy the world around them. Just like Kenny and I have done...dreamed of moving westward, and we have worked to make that happen and have accomplished it (though we want futher west; it's our first step towards the final destination); I glad that they are with us to experience the trials and accomplishments. To see that you can get to where you want to be in life. It just takes hard work, discipline, and determination. It's a life lesson within itself, even as young kids.
