Plumb--Need You Now (How Many Times)
“How do you do this everyday?” someone asked, “I get down on my knees in the morning and ask God for strength to make it through the day. I can’t think about tomorrow, I need help today.”
"Give your entire attention to what God is doing right now, and don't get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow. God will help you deal with whatever hard things come up when the time comes." Matthew 6:34 (MSG)
Through life’s journey there are many things that come that can be so overwhelming that we wonder how we are going to make it. Whether it’s raising children, financial difficulty, job loss, hurt from loved ones, sickness, death, or sometimes the busyness of life, the thought of the future can be very gloomy. Sometimes we are placed in situations where we can truly say that we are walking by faith and not by sight. Looking through our eyes, the road ahead seems very long and hard with no end in sight.
Throughout it all, we must remember that God is able to renew and restore. As He strengthens us daily, He is building our strength for the next day and the weeks and months ahead. We must remember that it is His strength that takes us through the trials and the adversities of life. All of our power and might may take us to a certain point, but it is God that sees us through to the end.
"He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak". Isaiah 40:29-31 (NIV)
God will always be sovereign over all that we go through. In the book of Job, we read that Satan had to first ask permission to come against Job. Satan wanted to destroy Job but God knew that the testing was only going to make Job stronger in his faith and more blessed than before. He knew his power would be more than enough for Job to overcome all of the enemy’s attacks. Do you not know that the same is true for us and our circumstances? The wind, the waves, every storm and battle that we face must first come before Christ who allows only that which he will cause to be used for our good despite how painful it seems now. For that reason we must never give up. God is working out blessings in our life that we can’t even imagine! We may feel weak, but God will keep us from sinking if we will just keep our eyes on him.
In my own life, I am experiencing a struggle that is causing me much pain. There are times I also feel overwhelmed and weakened from the battle that never seems to end. It is difficult some mornings for me to just get out of bed. Yet in my heart, I know the God whom I have believed--I can trust through all things, that God will not fail me. I may not see or feel him working out my problem, but I know that he is. Sometimes I write these posts through my tears. It is difficult but I know my Redeemer lives! He has taken me too far for me to give up now. Each day I grow in the strength that he gives me. All that I am going through has a purpose that God has designed and that he will work out in his perfect way.
It is my prayer that if you are in a difficult situation that you will give your pain to the One who paid the price to give you a future with hope. Jesus overcame all of our enemies and all of our problems by his death on the cross. There is nothing that can hold you in bondage if you will trust that God is bigger.
