News Updates

We left Indiana on Thursday and made the six hour drive to our new home. The drive went really well and really fast. Kenny and Jonathan drove the Uhaul truck, Madison and I drove the car, and my mom and dad drove with the livestock trailer. After taking some time to stretch our legs and eat some lunch, we dug in! Kenny and dad tackled the moving truck while mom and I dug into some cleaning. The lady that owns the house we are living in has had a cleaning lady come in and clean for her, so the cleaning wasn't much, but there was some to do. The kids were ready and excited and jumped right on the moving truck to start grabbing things that they could carry in. I am so mad at myself that I didn't think at the time to take pictures...they were so cute carrying stuff in, especially when they did it together. The truck was mostly unloaded by the end of the day. I don't know how they got all that stuff off so quickly, when it took us 2 full days to load it! Kenny definately saw for himself while we have always called my mom the 'energizer bunny', I need to contact the company and see if they need her for some advertising...she is amazing and never stops! We all were able to get some much needed rest that night before starting again the next morning. All that was left though was just a few big things on the truck and the livestock trailer. It went quick and we had the truck returned by noon. Madison dug right into her room and started unpacking boxes. She couldn't wait to get settled into her new room. We took a drive Friday evening with mom and dad to show them around and show them where Kenny will work. The kids hadn't seen the area either so it was exciting to take them by their new school. Summer school will start for them next week. It's a two week program which will allow them to not only get used to the school and meet new friends but take advantage of some great activities that they do around the town like going to the pool and such. We took the kids to the park on Saturday as they had done so well during the packing and moving. They definately deserved some down time for themselves. The park was exciting and has so much to do. Mom and dad left early afternoon on Saturday which was hard, but exciting for us all as we shared a dream that Kenny and I have had for several years and we are now actually doing it! I still hit those moments when I am like, holy cow, this is real!! It hasn't really sunk in yet.

Jonathan was ready to hit Bass Pro so we took off Saturday evening and made the 40 minute drive towards Kansas City. Jonathan has never been to a Bass Pro so we knew he would be revved up. He loved going to Gander Mountain so we knew he would be overwhelmed. It was a good time to go as they are doing activity days throughout June for the kids so we hit some crafts and activities that they were able to take part in while we were there. That was fun for them for sure. Sunday we ventured to the pool, the temperature got up to 90 so the pool was definately on the schedule. It is a very nice acquatics center that they have here. A little smaller than Greencastle but they have a bunch of stuff for the kids to do. They have two water slides...one that is like GC but longer, and a straight down speed slide, diving board, whirlpool, lilly pads in the middle for the kids to play on, a tree type thing that shoots out an umbrella of water, and an island that has an umbrella of water and three small slides for the little kids. They definately didn't get bored! I was surprised at how many lifeguards they had all around, that was good to see. After summer school the kids will go there for a session of swimming lessons.

This morning was an early morning for us as Kenny left at 5am with Merle, his boss, to Carthage Illinois for orientation and paperwork to start his job. Carthage is the headquarters or corporate offices for Professional Swine Management. He will meet the rest of the team as well as the vets that he will be working with and head back. They plan on stopping in Newport to tour through the farm there before making their way back. Then tomorrow is his official first day on the job! Both exciting and nerving, but I know Kenny will do fine.

We had several storms pass through last night which will bring down today's temperature. Other than, we are looking at a chance of rain again on Tuesday into Wednesday and a chance this weekend.

I'm working again on unpacking boxes and getting us settled in as much as I can. A BIG garage sale is definately on the list as we knew we had a 'stuff' but physically saw it all when we had to pack and move. Can't wait to get rid of all the stuff and make some extra money while doing it =) LOL

I will get pictures posted soon. Just got to make myself take the time to transfer them and upload them. Wanted to make a post though first.

Off to unpacking!!
